5am

5am on a Sunday morning most people are sleeping or wish they were sleeping. I slide out of bed leaving my wife and son who joins us so often in the middle of the night there sleeping so peacefully, that is the only thing that makes getting up hard but the trail is calling my name as it does so often. The drive to Berryman usually takes about a solid hour and having everything ready the night before makes getting started that much easier. I only needed the lights for about 1/2 hour but that was still fun, next time I would like to get a triple in with one lap in the dark I think that would be a blast. So anyway the single speed is still the #1 choice for the MTB and I have to admit I didn't think I would love it this much! The trail was amazing with the fool moon shining thru the trees and my lights reflecting the ice off of the leaves. The trail was a little slick in spots but stayed pretty solid until about the last half of the second lap when it started thawing out. Added in a few more miles to get a solid 50 for the day. The legs felt great the whole ride hope this is a sign of good things to come. First loop, Second loop. Made it home in time for a late lunch and a nice walk with the family. what a perfect day.

Saturday Lucas had his first swim class without me or Bettina being in the water with him, I have to admit I was kind of worried how he would do without us but he did awesome. Bettina put some pics on her site.

Dee-Wayne,

I knew you would like SS, but love it? Uh, oh...

And let me get this straight- your SECOND lap at the Berryman was FASTER than your first? And stupid fast too? I think I need to email Garmin. Their Edge clearly has issues. That, or you needed to get home. Either way, nice work!

I'm in St Louis during the week for business the next few weeks and would love to find out if you guys have any night rides going on. I'm staying close to Chubb. I've also got a new rig as can bee seen by visiting my blog.

I see the first lap has a typical error on the back side. Gotta get some trail markers up at that point. Lots of people make that left at the Y.

How was the overall trail? I haven't been down in months. I have the Adoptatrail section from Berryman CG CW to the main gravel before the drop to Harmon springs. Just looking for some trail data so I know what tools I may need....

I think the trail is in really good shape, there was a tree down not to for in from Berryman camp that people had already started a little trail to go around, it makes it easy to stay on the 4 wheeler trail instead of making the left on the BT. The horses messed up a few spots but that has been there for a while. The four wheelers have used a few spots on the trail which is why I missed the sign and made the left, I did move some leaves to make the trail more noticable, although if you look to the right you can see the trail sign. Let me know if you ever need a hand. I plan on getting down there a lot more and doing more of the Ozark trail.

Thanks for the info. I sent your motion based lap 1 data to the USFS in Potosi, with a request for some additional signage in that area. I hope to make it down to the BT in the next few weeks...weather permiting. I managed to get in on a sawyer certification class the first weekend in Feb. Add that to the new Bob Trailer I won at the BT EPIC and hopefully Berryman will stay clear for a while...got pas sthe class first. I will ping ya when plans firm up for ride. Keep me posted as well.

Don't ever go ride with this guy! He will punish you and leave you for dead. Even in the dark on Wedde Rd.
And if his buddy Jim V is with him, they will both leave you for dead and Dwayne will be smiling, of course.
Seriously... Great ride Wednesday night.

Doug you did great! next week we will do Wette from the other side so you can see which way you like better, it was a shame we didnt get to do Strupp hill!!
