When I was a kid my mom said I was to obsessive when I would get in to something. I guess not much has changed even after all these years. The business got super busy over the last 5 months. I would have to admit that riding is usually the only thing that really frees my brain, but for a time it was 100% work 100% of the time. kind of the obsessive thing from when I was young I guess. Love building houses and honestly pretty much anything and always had. When I was in to other things, skateboarding, hockey etc. When I was done with it I was done period. Don't know why. Biking is different and I stopped for a different reason then just being done.
Its funny, I took about 7 weeks off and managed to drop 8 pounds, with working so much I started eating a lot better, 12 to 14hr days everyday was like a everlasting endurance race. Other than one other little reason as fate would have it for being off of the bike it all made since. Especially since my biggest saying when it comes to business is that if you don't take care of your business it wont take care of you, and that came from years of working for somebody else, it only became that much more with my own. Business is doing well and there will be a lot of changes with that and a whole lot of other things in the next year. Finally picked up the bike again a few weeks ago, did a few laps at Council bluff, first time on the mtb since Lumberjack 100 which by the way was awesome, so awesome that we prerode the whole course the night before! A couple of good weeks of road riding and I finally got back out to do the big ride, 92 miles and its always been a sufferfest with me and Jim, and that's when I was riding it all of the time. I wasn't sure when I left this morning how I would feel especially riding it with Jim and Mike. I think I was enjoying the ride so much that by the time I really thought about it the ride was over, wish they could all feel like that. good times.

2 great races in two weeks, Syllamo tried to get me, luckily a few people had some tubes and was nice enough to let me borrow them. So I finished another Syllamo's Revenge, pretty stoked about that. Also finished the Cohutta 100 in 8hrs on a SS which was my dream goal. I think I will pretty much be on the Single Speed for the rest of the year, I missed it to much at Syllamo. Work has been awesome, its hard to believe I have almost been in business for a year.
Family is great not sure what I would do without the support of my wife and everything she does to support my dreams, very good stuff. Lumberjack 100 is next month and I have something special to help get ready for that, maybe in a few weeks.

Its been a special couple of weeks, Double B in under 5hrs on the SS with a 130 avg hrt rate and then a pretty fast 12 mile time trial. Over the last couple of years its been the same 12 miles. it finishes off at the top of Rice rd. I have always wondered why we would do solo time trials to the top of Rice rd I am still not sure other than we want to suffer really bad. Nothing special about the day, I wasn't even on my own bike. When I got to the first hill and never shifted out of the big, big I new it was going to be a good one. Shy of 24 coming off of hwy Z I had a slight headwind crushing my dreams. 15 seconds is all I needed, pretty stoked I didn't black out and end up in a ditch going up Rice, you better believe I was smiling when I got to the top, that's freedom! maybe next time. 11.95 miles, 900ft of elevation gain 21.3 avg 33 min 13 seconds. When you are alone you have no choice but to make pain your friend, it is and will always be your true friend. Something I thought about after reading Mr Puncher's comment.

Happy New Year.

Time goes by to fast, its hard to believe we are already starting a new year. Last year was a great year. Starting the new business, learning a whole different side of construction that I was unfamiliar with. Having a dream and believing in it, believing that you can truly love your job and what you do can make a difference to how people look at house building. At the end of the day excepting nothing less then complete satisfaction. Finally riding my Mountain bike over 200 miles in a 24hr period, 250 to be exact and doing it on a Single speed. BT epic was something in its own, we can have the best race of our life and at the right given time that best race could turn out to be almost to easy! I still think a part of that race was lost when Eric got hurt. Me, Shot, Tillford and Eric had such a great flow going on and it would of been awesome to of kept that going. The race season wouldn't of been right for me without getting to see someone win for the first time. It was definitely time for Mitch to win a 12hr. This race season couldn't of been more perfect, Syllamo, being a part of the 29er crew. And after doing so many races never loosing the concept that at the end of the day its just riding a bike. But more important things, family. None of this would work without the awesome support from my wife and little boy who are always finding new ways to put a smile on my face. Everyday is a new day to being a better day, enjoy it! Happy New Year...
